How real-time sync works
Understanding how 2calendars detects and mirrors events in near real time.
Near real-time, not batch
Unlike many calendar sync tools that run on a schedule (every 15 minutes, every hour, or once a day), 2calendars detects changes and mirrors events within seconds. When you create, update, or delete an event on a source calendar, the corresponding change appears on the destination calendar almost immediately.
How it works
- You create or modify an event on a connected Google Calendar.
- Google notifies 2calendars that a change occurred.
- 2calendars reads the updated event details from the source calendar.
- A mirrored block is created, updated, or removed on the destination calendar.
This process typically completes within a few seconds of the original change.
What can affect sync speed
While sync is designed to be near-instant, certain factors can introduce delays:
- Google API rate limits — If many changes happen at once, Google may throttle API requests. Changes are queued and processed as soon as possible.
- Google service delays — Occasionally, Google’s push notification system experiences delays. Events will sync once the notification arrives.
- Network issues — Temporary connectivity problems between 2calendars and Google’s servers.
- Recurring events — Complex recurring event series may take slightly longer to process.
Important notes
“Real-time” and “within seconds” describe typical performance under normal conditions. They are not guarantees. Sync may occasionally be delayed due to the factors listed above.
You should not rely on 2calendars as your sole system for time-critical scheduling. Always verify important appointments independently, especially for high-stakes meetings or deadlines.
Checking sync status
You can confirm that events are syncing correctly by checking the connection status on your dashboard. The last sync timestamp shows when the most recent event was successfully mirrored.
