Default privacy: how Busy blocks work

What are Busy blocks?

When 2calendars mirrors an event from one calendar to another, the default behavior is to create a Busy block — a simple time block that shows you are unavailable. No event title, description, attendees, or location are copied.

This is the core of our privacy-first approach. Your boss does not need to know why you are busy on Friday afternoon. Your partner does not need to see the name of your client call.

What a Busy block looks like

On the destination calendar, you will see an event that shows:

• Title: “Busy”
• Time: The same start and end time as the original event
• Details: None — no description, location, or attendees

The original event on your source calendar remains completely unchanged.

When to use Busy blocks

Busy blocks are ideal when:

• You want your availability reflected without sharing any details
• You are syncing between a work and personal calendar
• You are connecting a corporate Google Workspace account and want to minimize data sharing

Alternatives to Busy blocks

If you need more context on mirrored events, you can change the setting per connection:

• Custom title — Show a label you define, such as “Personal” or “Work meeting.” The event details are still hidden.
• Full details — Copy the complete event title, description, location, and other metadata. Use this only when privacy is not a concern.

You can switch between these options at any time from your connection settings. The change applies to future mirrored events — previously created blocks are not retroactively updated.
