Clockwise shut down: replacing Personal Calendar Sync

If you’re reading this, you probably already know: Clockwise announced that its product would no longer be available starting March 27, 2026, that customer support would run until that date, and that all user data would be deleted shortly after, with no transfer of data to Salesforce. Calendar preferences, scheduling links and Focus Time settings went with it.

The part that catches people out is what happened on the calendar itself. Clockwise stated that the Smart Hold events it created, Focus Time, Travel Time, Meeting Breaks and Personal Calendar synced events, would be removed. That last one is the quiet problem. For a lot of Clockwise users the single most load-bearing feature wasn’t AI scheduling at all: it was their personal calendar automatically blocking time on their work calendar so colleagues stopped booking over their life. Those blocks are gone, and nothing is creating new ones.

Split the replacement decision in two

Clockwise bundled two very different things, and the mistake is looking for one product that replaces both.

The AI scheduling half — Focus Time, moving meetings around, Meeting Breaks, Travel Time, scheduling links. Two details are worth calling out for anyone coming from Clockwise.

First, privacy is the default, not a setting you have to find. Every connection mirrors events as a bare “Busy” block unless you explicitly opt into full details or a custom title on that specific connection. The failure mode where a personal appointment title leaks onto a work calendar that half the company can read simply doesn’t have a chance to happen by accident.

Second, the direction is yours to choose, one leg at a time. Two-way sync in 2calendars is two independent one-way legs, never a merge, so “personal blocks time on work, but work never touches personal” is a normal configuration rather than a workaround. Each leg carries its own privacy setting and its own rules.

Rebuilding after the shutdown

Because Clockwise removed the synced events it had created, there’s nothing to migrate and nothing to clean up: your work calendar is simply back to showing only work. Setting up the replacement is a fresh connection rather than an import.

1. Connect the Google account that holds your personal calendar, and the one that holds your work calendar.
2. Create a one-way connection from personal to work, and leave it on the default “Busy” privacy setting.
3. Check that the next few personal commitments show up on the work side as detail-free blocks.
4. Only if you want it, add the reverse leg so work busy time also appears on your personal calendar, with its own privacy setting.
